About the artist

Darja Popolitova (b. 1989) is an artist, PhD student and lecturer at the Estonian Academy of Arts, Tallinn. She uses jewellery, digital techniques and video media in her works. Combining these media, she asks the question: How can we initiate a fictional transfer from the digital to the tactile in a way that can provoke an ironical view of society and culture? Popolitova has an MA in jewellery and blacksmithing (2015) and a BA in glass art (2012), both from the Estonian Academy of Arts. She has participated in exhibitions at the Lisbon Contemporary Jewellery Biennial, Lisbon (2024), EKKM, Tallinn (2024), Museum Arnhem, Arnhem (2020), the MAD Museum, New York (2019) and the Kunstnerforbundet Gallery, Oslo (2018). Her works are in the collections of the Estonian Museum of Applied Art and Design and Museum Arnhem, as well as private collections.
