Introduction

Maybe we’ve always been raised to be good girls, hardworking yet feminine, beautiful yet not vain, experienced yet youthful, sexy yet not slutty. 1001 roles and expectations. So who am I in the end?

The work has previously been exhibited at Kristiina Hansen’s solo exhibition Changing, It Rests in 2013 at Draakon Gallery and at the Köler Prize exhibition in 2015. The work is also part of the collection of the Tartu Art Museum.

About the artist

Kristiina Hansen (1986) has graduated from the Estonian Academy of Arts with a degree in Photography (BA) and Contemporary Art (MA), and has studied at the Bergen Academy of Art and Design. As an artist, Hansen has often explored poetic imagery and wordplay, which have mostly taken the form of photography or installations. She is interested in how materials, objects, and words alter shape and meaning, create unexpected contexts, and form new stories when combined in a new unexpected ways.
